Lorna Jenkins
“I’m Lorna and have been a Trustee with EBS for about 13 years, initially as Treasurer, and now I keep the minutes at meetings. I am retired from employment, but originally I taught in infants’ schools, and after a break to raise a family I worked as a bookkeeper.”
Kash Chail
I’ve recently joined to get more involved with my local community. EBS provides crucial services to the local community, thus it is a pleasure to be a part of running the charity. Outside of EBS, I have just graduated from university and currently working in PR.”
Cheryl Nicholls
“I am a qualified Psychotherapeutic Counsellor and have been qualified for over 5 years now. I initially became a volunteer counsellor for EBS and held this post for 4 years until the end of 2021 when I relinquished my post and moved across to becoming one of their Trustees in June 2022. I enjoy supporting and helping so many people through their difficult times and ensure that I assist at every point of their personal journey. As a trustee, I now work to ensure that EBS continues to support all their clients with outstanding service and support.”
Julie Williams
“My name is Julie and I’m a new Trustee for EBS in the summer of 2021. I’m proud to join this local charity which provides such important support for people in our community when they need it most. My background is in Financial Services. I’m married, I’m a keen gardener and I love exercise and learning.”
Alex Bassett
My appreciation for the work that EBS does comes both from my own lived experiences and my partners work as a mental health practitioner. My background is in Procurement and Supply Chain Management, my focus is to deploy these skills in support of EBS’ operations.
I’m a runner, cyclist and general outdoor enthusiast and in my element out walking with my partner and dog.”
Josie Redman
With a long and accomplished career in Human Resources, I have always been passionate about supporting people to thrive personally and professionally. Over the years, I recognised the growing need for meaningful mental health support in the workplace and beyond, which inspired me to retrain as a professional counsellor. This journey has brought me to my current role as a Wellbeing Advisor at Solent Mind, where I work to ensure individuals can access the support they need to navigate life’s challenges.
My work at Solent Mind and Counselling training complements the work of EBS, which focuses on creating safe and inclusive spaces to support people with their mental health. My EBS Trustee role allows me to blend my strategic expertise with counselling knowledge. I am particularly committed to supporting the local community, knowing firsthand the profound difference accessible mental health services can make.
Outside of work, I live on a smallholding where I share my life with my husband and daughter and a lively assortment of animals, including many chickens, pigs, sheep, and a couple of dogs. This setting offers a grounding balance to my professional life and deepens my appreciation for the therapeutic power of nature.
Being part of a close-knit community has reinforced my belief in the importance of connection and mutual support. Whether through my professional work or personal endeavours, I am driven by a commitment to fostering resilience and well-being in those around me.
My journey reflects a deep-seated belief: everyone deserves access to compassionate support and the opportunity to flourish, regardless of their circumstances.
