On 5th September 2020, EBS Counselling counsellors and trustees attended Unconscious Bias Training conducted by Dorset Race and Equality Council. This was an interactive and engaging workshop designed to help us, as counsellors and volunteers for the charity, better understand our unconscious processes and how best to manage these, societal bias and its potential effects on us and our clients, and how we may better support clients affected by unconscious bias. The training opened discussion within supervision groups and the organisation as a whole. We have taken this training onboard and integrated our learning both into the running of the organisation and individuals within our personal lives and our work with our clients.
We would like to thank Dorset Race and Equality Council for delivering this training at a reduced rate, ensuring everyone at the organisation had the opportunity to attend, and for adapting the workshop for Zoom which ensured everyone’s safety and compliance with Covid restriction rules.
We would also like to thank our volunteers, all of whom attended this training, ensuring they are able to deliver the best possible service to all of our clients.
